Operations being reverted

I've been using Davmail for years now with M365, but there is one phenomenon that puzzles me: when performing an operation on a message, the change is often reverted with no reason, for example: I mark a message read/unread, it makes the change but then reloads the message without the change. Or I can delete a message and after a second it will come back, as if deleted and then reloaded. Sometimes messages disappear and then reappear without an obvious reason.

On an unrelated note, as I also try to improve performance all in all, I saw a cache setting:

# Enable message caching
davmail.cacheMessages=true

# Set cache directory
davmail.cachePath=/var/cache/davmail

...but it seems to have no effect. (I'm not sure if Davmail has a cache at all.)

DavMail does not cache messages, so those settings will have no effect.

Root cause of the "revert" effect is that IMAP clients use different connections to apply changes on messages.
With large folders this leads to race conditions: one connection loads messages, this can take more than one minute, if in the mean time you open a specific message it will be loaded and marked read over another connection.
=> the first connection will have the message unread even if on the server it's already marked read.
