Is it safe to allow untrusted users to create templates?

Sorry if this one is a bit obvious but I'm not really finding a lot of info on the subject.

Could someone cause issues with just the adaptive template language built-in functions, if an unsuspecting user were to load a malicious template?

If it's meant to be safe, could the documentation be updated to clarify this?
