Programmatically control mini-cart

We are using D365 with a custom theme and we would like to be fully enabled to programmatically control the mini-cart (e.g. set status open/close). Is there any way to manage that? We expect to be able to control the mini-cart via SDK, hooks or at least events.
Looking into the Commerce modules we weren't able to find any code relatable to this functionality.

We deep dived into Dynamics365 documentation and communities looking for some valuable resources for our needs, but none seemes to be documentaed or already discussed.

These are our key points:

• The location of the mini-cart flyout popup code within Dynamics 365 modules.
• How to customize the hover interaction with the cart icon.
• Best practices or APIs available for programmatically controlling the open status of flyout popup.
• Steps or documentation on customizing the AdventureWorks theme.

As a final result, we would like to be able to control the status and the content of the flyout popup from mini-cart feature.

Right now we are struggling because the flyout status behave indipendently and we aren't able to keep it opened because it seems event-managed and also it's closing just hoveirng the X close icon.
