Characters that cause invalid xml (&, ', ", <...) cause errors when sent to Dynamics

When an employee includes an '&' character in any of the extension properties on a customer within a text field, it does not get properly escaped when sent to Dynamics 365. This usually results in an XML string that cannot be deserialized on dynamics' side of the synchronous update/create customer using the standard xml classes of x++.

This XML string is used in event handler methods on the RetailTransactionService::newCustomerExt and RetailTransactionService::updateCustomerExt methods, to synchronize the custom data to dynamics.

This issue prevents us from creating an intermediary table we use in syncing custom data between D365/CSU and thus stops us from creating/updating a customer with such data at all.

Hello @Mano-Lemmens-gd - I discussed this with the dev team, and they said the customer should either avoid using invalid characters, or perform any escaping themselves.

I understand that you will not be escaping the characters but asking our employees to both memorise and escape the invalid characters in names of companies and organisations that are relevant to that customer is not a realistic option. We will be escaping them ourselves.

Could you close this issue as 'not planned' instead of resolved? We have a workaround but unfortunately it implies continuous work for every new text extension property on our end and this issue will (almost inevitably in the long term) resurface, whether with us or for other companies. In my eyes it is up for interpretation whether the issue is resolved or it's solution simply postponed to another date.
