How to chain parent processing based on child evaluation?

Scenario 1: Parent: Formula - Child: Lookup

A formula that depends on values from the lookup table.
e.g.

Input:
a=3
b=5
c=8
d=7

P = d*2 + z
z = lookup(a,b,c)
| a | b | c | z |
| 3 | 4 | 6 | 1 |
| 3 | 5 | 6 | 5 |
| 3 | 5 | 8 | 9 |

=> z = 9

P = 7*2 + 9 = 23

Scenario 2: Parent: Formula - Child: Formula

A formula that depends on the output of other formulae.
e.g.

Input:
a=3
b=5
c=8
d=7

P = x + z

if(a <= 3) then x = a * b
else if(a > 3 && a<=b) then x = a + b

if(d <= 10) then z = c * d
else if(d > 10) then z = c + d

=>
x = 3 * 5 = 15
z = 8 * 7 = 56

P = 15 + 56 = 71
