[Intellij] azuremcp is using enormous amounts of memory and filling swap

I've installed the azure intellij plugin on a macbook pro with 32GB ram and use it mainly to connect ot keyvaults. Lately my intellij is becoming unresponsive, when checking memory usage I see azuremcp using enormous amounts of memory. I am not consciously using this and killing it makes the problem go away temporarily. Is there some kind of memoryleak in this, what does it do and can i disable it?

@TomDoesb Thanks for reporting this issue. We will investigate the azmcp process using large amounts of memory. Meanwhile, you can disable it by doing the following:

• From GitHub Copilot chat window, select Agent mode and click on the Tools icon to disable the "Azure MCP Server".
• From Actions (ctrl+shift+A or cmd+shift+A), search for azure.mcp.ghcp.autoconfigure.disabled and turn it "ON".
• Restart the IDE

@srnagar Thanks for the instruction, disabling the mcp server in github is done, but searching for azure.mcp.ghcp.autoconfigure.disabled in the actions sections gives no results..

Is it possible to share the plugin version and the screenshot of the "Actions" window for search text "azure.mcp"?

btw: I had to disable the Azure MCP Server again in the copilot settings after installing some updates (the azmcp process was back and again using 54GB of memory), but this is probably because I cant set the auto configure flag?

@TomDoesb It seems like the registry flags are not showing in "Actions" on Mac. Could you please try disabling through the "Registry"?

@srnagar Seems it was already disabled, maybe the configuration of the tool affected this?

@TomDoesb is the checkbox checked or unchecked? The toggle has to be "checked" to disable the feature.

@srnagar a good catch, it was indeed unchecked, i have checked it now. Is there any idea whats causing this issue, when the checkbox was still unchecked
I had the memory increasing again up til 100GB... ? I assume unchecking the mcp the will also detriments copilots functionality?

@TomDoesb please let me know if this issue still exists and if you were able to successfully disable it? Also, there's a new version of Azure Toolkit that will have the latest version of azmcp. The latest version has several perf improvements that might have fixed this issue. Please let us know if this issue still exists after upgrading to the latest plugin version.

@srnagar Disabling it solved my problem. I've now updated and re-enabled it. I'll post an update in a few days to report if the update fixed my issues
