Adding a custom button slot AND customizing the styles in a Dropdown component

The V9 Dropdown component exposes a button prop. I can use that slot to customize the dropdown's button (i.e. add an icon to the button based on what option is selected) by passing JSX (that still gets wrapped with a button element) OR I can use that slot to customize the button element that wraps the default button.

However, I cannot figure how to do both. When passing a custom JSX button (which I require to add an icon), the JSX still gets wrapped with a button element with the class "fui-Dropdown__button" that applies default styling I'm trying to remove. Is this possible?
