Add support for Open Telemetry

Right now, from what I can see there is no support for tracing. For me it would be valueble to gain more insights in performance and steps taken. I think this is rather easy to implement, at least to get started. I am willing to draft a PR to get things going but I would like to know if it is already being considered or not.

could we start with a lightweight implementation, connecting ILogger to OpenTelemetry first? (if that makes sense)
