How to add Shadow to SplitView's Pane

I have attempted following but it does not seem to work

        <SplitView x:Name="SplitView" OpenPaneLength="300" CompactPaneLength="48" IsPaneOpen="False" DisplayMode="CompactInline">
            <SplitView.Resources>
                <ThemeShadow x:Name="SharedShadow" />
            </SplitView.Resources>
            <SplitView.Pane>
                <Grid x:Name="Pane"  Margin="{StaticResource XSmallTopMargin}">
                </Grid>
            </SplitView.Pane>
            <Frame x:Name="NavigationFrame"/>
        </SplitView>

            SharedShadow.Receivers.Add(NavigationFrame);
            Pane.Translation += new Vector3(0, 0, 32);

Infact the aftermath is that the SplitView has stopped working properly.
