How to split the same instance

Hi,

I'm using multiple instances (openSuse, ubuntu, debian, etc). When I split the window using alt+shift+plus/minus, it always gives me the default instance, instead of the one that I'm actually using, which I think doesn't make any sense.

So how do I make sure that it generates the instance that I'm using?
