Option for xterm-style LMB-drag-selection: clear selection upon release of LMB

I know this has come up before, probably many times. Can someone point me to the discussion? I searched the Issues, but couldn't find anything. I'm trying to determine if it's worth opening an enhancement request, or if it's already been rejected. (Or if it can already be done and I just don't know.)

I don't remember seeing this as a feature request in recent times at least. Personally, I'd also not be in favor of adding this as it seems somewhat niche. I can see how some people would want this, but we have to balance this with not bloating the app further.
