Build different subprojects like in Visual Studio 2022 on Windows?

Goal: In Windows 11 VS2022, I can right click on the project in the solution and select build. How can I achieve that in VSCode on Ubuntu?

(1) What's targets in tasks.json and how to use it?
(2) Where are prj1 and prj2 defined in https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-cmake-tools/blob/main/docs/build.md?

I have the following CMake options:

option(BUILD_TEST "Build Tests" ON)

How do I set the flag ON/OFF from either VSCode settings and/or the CTRL+SHFT+P command palette so that I could easily build the selective subproject(s) or all of them?

The cmake.autoSelectActiveFolder setting in Visual Studio Code's CMake Tools extension determines whether the extension should automatically select and activate the appropriate CMake build folder when opening a workspace with multiple folders.

Is this what you want?

1. Click the "Cmake" icon in the left bar of VS code
2. Click pen icon below Folder
3. Select the project you want to build.

No, some status bar options in CMake Tools have now moved to the Project Status View in the CMake Tools sidebar.

One difference I see is that in my top-level CMakeLists.txt, I use project(MyProj CXX) but in my subprojects' CMakeLists.txt, I use set(PROJECT_NAME Proj1) What's the difference between them? When to use what?

project() should be used at the top level to initialize your project and define the main project name, version, and language support.
set(PROJECT_NAME ...) is used in subprojects or specific directories when you want to override or specify a custom project name for those submodules, without reinitializing the entire project.

I was expecting CTRL+SHFT+B to build the target selected in the Project Status View but it doesn't. Have to use CTRL+SHFT+P and select target to run.
