Do Java extensions work with each other in VSCode?

For example, the configuration of the JDK is different in Maven for Java and Language Support for Java™ by Red Hat. Shouldn't there be a unified place to configure the JDK, and then other extensions that require the JDK directly use this unified configuration?

Loading my existing project in VSCode doesn't work properly, either Maven is using the wrong version of the JDK or the main Spring Boot Dashboard doesn't show Spring information.
