Python REPL kernel spins although REPL controller/interpreter is ready

Not quite sure what is causing this but the kernel selector or REPL controller continues to spin infinitely although interpreter is selected and REPL controller is ready.

For some reason, I cant get a consistent repro, it only happens sometime but not all the time
