Description
Someone we support raised a query regarding the below. We have been unable to resolve this ourselves. it seems calling the copilot API to retrieve a document doesn't work.
We have followed the documentation on MS learn.
Permissions look correct, ExternalItems.Read.All & File.Read.All
His query is below,
His request is
However there is no retrieval his, but this document definitely exists.
" I'm experiencing problems with the Microsoft 365 Copilot Retrieval API beta feature returning empty results, despite following the official documentation and having confirmed that search functionality works correctly through the SharePoint UI.
Steps Taken:
- Permissions Configuration: Applied all necessary permissions via Graph Explorer (https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/graph-explorer) while logged into our Azure account
- Documentation Compliance: Followed all setup instructions from the official Microsoft documentation
- UI Verification: Confirmed that search functionality works correctly in Copilot through SharePoint UI (screenshots attached)
Despite successful setup and UI functionality, the Retrieval API consistently returns empty results. This suggests a potential configuration or tenant qualification issue that I cannot diagnose with my current access level.
Our R&D team contacted Microsoft Support through the admin panel, but they indicated that API-related queries fall outside their standard support scope.
Could you please help by either:
• Investigating why this beta feature isn't functioning as expected for our tenant
• Connecting us with the appropriate Microsoft team that handles API technical support
• Providing guidance on tenant qualification requirements for this beta feature
I'm happy to provide additional technical details, logs, or screenshots as needed to help diagnose this issue.
Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response."
