Adding to an array

I would like yaml to look like this:

a:
  a1: value1
  a2: value2
  a3: false
  aa:
    - aa1
    - aa2
    aaa: true

I can only get it to to the aa: key and not able to input aaa as such.

Would someone be able to answer this mostly basic question for me?

I don't understand what you are trying to do - the input yaml you gave is invalid (https://www.yamllint.com/)

Hi there, thanks for the reply. I'm actually trying to update the Synapse Homeserver Config file specifically the .listeners section. I make Docker images for the public to consume and my ways of hackish bash and indenting needs to up its game.

I believe I have figured something out in a different hackish way as such, I still don't think it is right however:
