Just an idea. At the moment I have some scripts around Backup-SqlDatabase but it'd be nice to get the "real XProtect backup" file somehow.

Are you specifically talking about the same backup feature available in Management Client?

Iirc that isn't exposed through supported APIs but might be available through the raw VMO client (Get-VmoClient will return the client but it's undocumented and unsupported, and might be dropped from the SDK nuget package in the future.

Either way its definitely something worth bringing to our MIP team after the new year to see what might be on the roadmap.

Yes, the idea would be to automate "XProtect" backups and not just "SQL", but it's just an idea.
