Latest version not downloading (1.20.73.01)

I'm using the latest version of the launcher but keep getting a

"Failed to perform http request to https://play.googleapis.com/download/by-token/download?token" error during install.
After install completes the play button still says "Download and Play" and launching is not working.

Tried older versions of the installer and older versions of Minecraft but it's the same problem every time.

Hope there's an easy fix!
