Switching between languages

When offering multi-language docs, on the switch of language you always get rerouted to the main/welcome page. IMO what would be ideal and most intuitive for users would be to switch the language on said page.
That way when (in our case) a user lands on our english first docs and maybe understand half of the content and then mid page want to switch to another language, they won't have to find to the page again.
