Hiring Mitsuba 3 Expert for Synthetic Microscope and Inverse Rendering Project

Hi there!

I’m new to Mitsuba 3 and am looking to hire a knowledgeable member of the Mitsuba 3 community as a freelancer. I’d like some direct input to accelerate my understanding of the tool and make progress on my current project. This project involves creating a (relatively) simple synthetic microscope to render physically accurate images for a synthetic dataset I'm aiming to produce. Given the scope, I expect there will be several hours of work available.

My current progress (in Blender):

• Created meshes for each of the ~13 lenses.
• Positioned all these lenses correctly in Blender and assigned the correct material properties.
• Designed several calibration meshes (e.g., Siemen’s star, 10-micron grid).
• Configured area lighting within Blender.
• Set up an orthographic camera to operate as the microscope sensor.
• Achieved decent renders with the built-in Cycles engine.

What I need help with:

• Support understanding any relevant optical theory.
• Developing a pipeline to import the created meshes from Blender to Mitsuba.
• Assigning the correct materials for the lenses within the Mitsuba framework.
• Setting up analogous lighting in Mitsuba.
• Configuring a corresponding camera in Mitsuba that supports inverse rendering.
