It would be nice to have an example of how to "update the function attributes" or at least a link pointing us the right way

Thanks for the feedback @staadecker! I've added a sentence at the end of the page. If you can share examples of third-party decorators that modify functions or their properties, I can try to add the relevant extension examples 🙂
