The Inspector should correctly handle subdirectory paths - we have tests confirming URLs like http://localhost:3000/api work properly. The 404 error typically indicates the target MCP server isn't responding at that endpoint.

A few things to check:

• Verify your MCP server is actually listening for SSE connections at the specified path
• If your server has a base path (e.g., /api), ensure the full path including /sse is correct
• Check your MCP server's logs to see if the request is reaching it
