My idea is that the core test functionality of monkeytype would be seperated from the site code, enabling others to install the engine as a node package into their typing project. In the original Reddit post, you mentioned that this was a new type of typing test, and I think that making a separate engine could grow the influence of this style. Moving the code would also improve the quality and efficiency of the code, as it would be reviewed as it is transferred. Another possible benefit is that this would also make the code easier to read, as developers could choose to work on either the engine or the website and would not be overwhelmed by the large size and complexity of the project.
