Make pace caret become progressively more transparent as it get closer to the main caret?

Up to a point in which the pace caret and the main caret are almost at the same position, in which case the pace caret becomes almost or fully invisible.

This is with the purpose of increasing legibility and declutter the visual space when having multiple carets.
