Hi, thank you for your suggestion. You can reset all settings to the default values. I don't think adding a reset to default for just the theme makes sense.
There are many more ways to customize monkeytype. Having tape mode, live progress or some of the funboxes active will change the UI a lot and will not getting reset by "reset to default theme" Adding "reset to defaults" for every individual setting would clutter the ui too much. One workaround would be to open monkeytype in a private/incognito window and check for the default settings there. |

Hi, Thanks for clarifying that resetting all settings to default is possible. As a regular user, I find the all-settings reset a bit complicated or heavy-handed—sometimes I just want to revert the theme back to the default without losing other customizations like tape mode or funboxes. That’s why I suggested a more focused option for resetting only the theme or at least helping users identify the default theme more easily. I understand the concern about cluttering the UI with too many reset buttons, so maybe something lightweight like a tooltip showing the default theme name on hover could be a good compromise. Thanks again for considering the feedback! |

However, once a user changes their theme, there is no clear way to revert to the default theme — especially if they don’t remember its name (Serika Dark). This leads to confusion and forces users to search online to find out the original default theme.
Users currently need to:
Solution
There are two small but impactful UX improvements that could solve this:
Esc
), which sets the theme to "serika-dark".Adding this would help new and returning users quickly revert their UI to a familiar state, without needing outside help. I'd be happy to help implement this feature via a pull request as well!
