VS Code terminal background color differs from iTerm2 terminal background color

The terminal background color in VS Code is distinctly lighter than for example the background color used for the Monokai Pro iterm2 theme. Is this by design? If so, would it be possible to add variants that align the VS Code terminal background color with the darker color used in iTerm2 so everything appears consistent?

+1 — tried out Monokai Pro recently and the light terminal background was too distracting.

I just discovered that you can override that area's background color in settings.json!

If you open the .json file for the flavor of Monokai you're using in ~/.positron/extensions/monokai.theme-monokai-pro-vscode-2.0.9-universal/themes (or wherever it lives) and search for the color for editor.background, you can copy that and use it for terminal.background and panel.background:
