Interactive Moon tasks on Windows do not accept user input for CLI prompts

I am running a Moon task that invokes a CLI with the task setting interactive: true
The prompt is displayed but I am not able to enter any input.

Example 1:

moon.yml

tasks:
  askName:
    command: python
    args:
      - "ask_name.py"
    local: true
    options:
      cache: false
      interactive: true

ask_name.py

import click

name = click.prompt('What is your name?')
print(f'Hello, {name}!')

In this case the process is aborted.

Example 2:
moon.yml

...
  ask-name:
    command: ["powershell.exe", "Read-Host \"What is your name?\""]
    local: true
    options:
      cache: false
      interactive: true

In this case task is executed but I was not able to enter any input

Any suggestions ?

@jcommuri Does it work if you remove local? Local is deprecated and has a lot of footguns.

No fixes were required, they all worked with the latest version.

What terminal/shell do you use? This is just using child processes in inherit mode, so stdin is just passed through.

I would double check your terminal/shell settings.

I tried running it with Bash and it worked fine, but it still doesn’t work in PowerShell.
We primarily use the VS Code terminal with PowerShell — is there a way to make it work there as well?

Ah ok, that makes more sense. I'll have to test on my windows machine.

In the meantime, if you set shell: false in the task options, does that help?

Ok cool, that at least narrows the problem down a bit. I'll look into a fix in the meantime.
