unable to open video device

ive managed to setup it with little trouble but ive got my logitech c922 plugged in through usb and its givng me the same error each time saying the its unable to open device.
Is there any known fixes? i dont wanna have to go out and buy another camera as im doling this for a school project.
also im using a raspberry pi 4 b 8gb

Motioneyeos Hasn't been updated in a while. I ran into a similar issue with a raspberry pi 4 8gb using a ribbon cable camera. I ended doing some research and found a solution by installing motioneye on a raspberry pi with raspberry pi os lite. I am not sure how much help this will be or if you even still need help at this time but maybe this will help others. There may be a better solution but at this time this is the best i have come up with.

From a fresh install of raspberry pi os lite debian bookworm 64-bit do the following from the command line:

sudo raspi-config (set localization options and expand file system)

sudo apt update

sudo apt full-upgrade -y

sudo apt --no-install-recommends install ca-certificates curl python3

grep -q '[global]' /etc/pip.conf 2> /dev/null || printf '%b' '[global]\n' | sudo tee -a /etc/pip.conf > /dev/null

sudo sed -i '/^[global]/a\break-system-packages=true' /etc/pip.conf

curl -sSfO 'https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py'

sudo python3 get-pip.py

rm get-pip.py

sudo python3 -m pip install --pre motioneye

sudo motioneye_init

sudo systemctl stop motioneye

sudo python3 -m pip install --upgrade --pre motioneye

sudo systemctl start motioneye

sudo apt install -y libcamera-v4l2 libcamera-tools

sudo sed -i 's|/usr/local/bin/meyectl|/usr/bin/libcamerify /usr/local/bin/meyectl|' /etc/systemd/system/motioneye.service

sudo systemctl daemon-reload

sudo systemctl restart motioneye

Mounting an external hard drive to the raspberry pi do the following:

sudo lsblk (Check that it is sda1 and Copy UUID)

sudo mkdir /mnt/recordings

sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/recordings

sudo chmod 775 /mnt/recordings

sudo nano /etc/fstab
add the following line at the bottom:
UUID=yourUUIDhere /mnt/recordings ntfs defaults , nofail 0 2

hold cntrl and press x then save the file with y and pressing enter
