Freeze status of layers of XREF in the target file

Hi,
In Autocad, it is possible to freeze out layers of an attached an xref file from a target file only for the scope of the target file - meaning that when going into the xref file, the layer is not freeze there.

I am trying to figure out how can I get this information in ezdxf - know which layers of a xref file were freezed from the target file.

The end goal is to end up with the exact same state as in Autocad.

It seems that you need to create a layer in the host DXF file with the naming scheme <xref-block-name>|<external-layer-name> that contains the attributes for the external layer:

The XDATA (1001, AcXRefLayerPropertyOverride) (1071, 2) is maybe also important.

IMPORTANT and possibly a showstopper: AutoCAD does not support DXF files as XREF's, you can only use DWG files as XREFS.

I apologize but I don't think I fully understand you.
My situation is as follow - I'm parsing an existing project, not creating anything new. As you mentioned, I indeed have in my host file (let's call it A) records of all the external layers and their properties.

The thing is - In autocad, when you attached another DWG as xref (let's call it B) you have the option of freezing layers of B, only in the context of A, which means those layers are not frozen in A file. We can say it a bit similar of freezing layers in viewports, which only effect the viewport and not the modelspace.

I'm trying to figure out how I can access this information - the status of layers from A as they are in B.

Figured out the solution, all of the overwritten attributes are under doc.layers
