Increase the number of CPU threads in use more than 8.

Nowadays processors with more than 8 threads have become quite common, so the limitation to 8 slows down encoding speed on processors with more threads. Is it possible to increase or remove this limitation? Or is this maximum due to peculiarities of the encoder algorithm?
