Toggling idle window from lua script

With mpv --idle, is there a more elegant way to hide or show a window from a lua script than loading a bogus file?

local function toggle_window()
        local b = mp.get_property_native("force-window")
        b = b and "no" or "yes"
        mp.set_property("force-window", b)
        mp.command("loadfile /dev/null")
end

edit to add that above function can be shortened to:

local function toggle_window()
        local b = mp.get_property_native("force-window")
        mp.set_property_native("force-window", not b)
        mp.command("loadfile /dev/null")
end
