Fluid Test Migration Playground

This repository demonstrates legacy testing patterns and serves as a sandbox for migrating unit tests to Ginkgo + Gomega.

Purpose

  • Replicate "bad" test code seen in production.
  • Provide a clear "Before" state for migration exercises.

After: Unified Ginkgo + Gomega

We have successfully migrated the legacy unit tests to a clean, idiomatic Ginkgo + Gomega structure in the after/ directory.

Key Improvements:

  1. Unified Framework: Eliminated the "hybrid" anti-pattern of mixing testing.T and Ginkgo blocks.
  2. Clear BDD Structure: Tests are organized with Describe, Context, and It blocks, making scenarios human-readable.
  3. Consistent Assertions: Replaced testify/assert and if err != nil checks with fluent Gomega matchers (Expect(err).To(HaveOccurred())).
  4. Improved Maintainability:
    • No more conditional logic inside test specifications.
    • Shared setup via BeforeEach.
    • Clear separation of validation and logic scenarios.

This migration mirrors the modernization effort needed for Fluid's core packages (e.g., pkg/ddc) to reduce cognitive overhead and improve test reliability.
