USB mode - image scaling issues?

After google nuked the project, I finally got around to installing a photoframe with a USB drive. But now I'm having an issue I never had before - some photos (not all) are heavily zoomed and overscanned - like 4x zoom, highlighting someone's arm etc. Seems to happen with both "use overscan" mode and not. I can't really see any pattern, anyone have an idea?

Just caught up with your post. Yes, I use the USB provider - it's all I ever used except for testing. And no, I have not seen any differences in the zoom on the photos. Does this happen randomly, or it is particular to specific photos. IOW, does the same photo work correctly sometimes but not others, or do specific photos always zoom improperly. If it's the latter, I would look at the EXIF information on those photos to see whether the resolution reported there matches that of the file.
