Does Websocket mocking work in vitest browser mode?

Im playing around with

import { setupWorker } from "msw/browser";

im trying to figure out if mocking websockets like: https://mswjs.io/docs/websocket/
works with this or if its just a me problem

Does it work? I'm thinking it probably doesn't at least not via the service worker that is used for fetch

Hi, @Georgegriff.

Yes, ws works with setupWorker, including in the Browser Mode in Vitest. It doesn't use the Service Worker, WebSocket connections are bypassed by service workers.

Thanks for the reply, I was debugging a particularly complex web socket setup so I was finding it hard to tell if it was me or the library. I'll try again soon on a simpler test case and I'm sure things will work correctly.

One of the greatest way to debug is to try creating a minimal reproduction. Helps A/B the root causes and, more often than not, you can find the culprit yourself.
