Controlled Combobox without Input: unintentional filtering

Current behavior

In this Stackblitz based on a base-ui example I built a Combobox with a controlled value and removed the Input from the Popup.

When switching the value in the rendered Combobox, the list of items is filtered to the value set as default.

Expected behavior

The list of items is not filtered as no filter is being applied by the user or developer.

According to usage guidelines in the docs, you should use select instead of combobox.

The guideline says “Avoid when not rendering an input”

Yeah we explicitly don't support a Combobox without the Input rendered somewhere.

Accessibility features are missing for the listbox in that case (keyboard text navigation namely), so you should use Select.
