Another suggestion on the same lines, could a note default to an octave within the instrument's range if the nearest is outside? I code for bass guitar and often have to correct a D that goes below the lowest E that can be played on a 4 string with conventional tuning. |

I'd like to see a feature whereby one could direct the octave positioning of a new note simultaneously with the entering of it via the keyboard. Currently, even when I know the note will be placed "wrong", I have to wait until after I have entered it before using the CTRL + arrow key to shift it. It would be significantly faster if (for example) I could combine UP + note / DOWN +note. I don't have a view particularly on what the UP and DOWN should be mapped to, although it can't be SHIFT as that is used for chord construction.
The advantage of using 2 keys is that when entering the same pitch-class it can be directed to UP, DOWN or SAME. If the SAME option wasn't deemed important, then 1 key would be OK if its function were "do the opposite of the MS default"
