Keyboard palette items do not save correctly

Description with steps to reproduce

Inserted pedal marking does not save correctly. See screen shot attached.

1. Drag/Insert from Keyboard palette this shape: |_________|
2. Edit beginning of mark so it looks like this: _________| (i.e. remove first vertical slash)
3. Save/and Reopen file.
   4.The pedal mark now looks like this: PED__________|
