Authorization agent :/

I have installed polkit + hyprpolkit agent and and am still getting "no authorization protocol specified". Against what might be better judgement, I added "exec-once = systemctl --user start hyprpolkitagent" to my config and then rebooted. When that did not work I also added "exec-once = xhost +si:localuser:root in my hyprland configuration". I got this from a thread on reddit but still no luck. How can I resolve the authorization protocol? thx all. Hope this isnt a duplicate, I searched this repo
