how to apply/add additional kustomize

Hello,
really new to kustomization. I would like to know how I can pass in additional deployment using the kustomize values that has been added to the module.

  # Extra values that will be passed to the `extra-manifests/kustomization.yaml.tpl` if its present.
  # extra_kustomize_parameters={}

think that might be something for the README or a wiki. I was struggling with the same issue. The way how I do it right now is just to add the extra-manifests/kustomization.yaml.tpl

like so

apiVersion: kustomize.config.k8s.io/v1beta1
kind: Kustomization
resources:
  - ./actionsrunner.yaml
  - ./airflow.yaml

and than define a HelmCart within the files. p.e.:

apiVersion: v1
kind: Namespace
metadata:
  name: airflow

---
apiVersion: helm.cattle.io/v1
kind: HelmChart
metadata:
  name: apache-airflow
  namespace: airflow
spec:
  chart: airflow
  targetNamespace: airflow

I have fail.
Firstly i create diretory extra-manifests with file kustomization.yaml.tpl

after that i try fo command

those changes are meant to be applied manually using kubectl apply -k, right?
I was thinking about triggering an update on terraform apply automatically, whenever a file within extra-manifests changes.

A naive trigger could look like this (tested and working, not a final implementation):

# file: kustomization_user.tf

resource "null_resource" "kustomization_user" {
  
  # trigger kustomize on `terraform apply` for extra-manifests whenever a file in extra-manifest changed (recursively)
  triggers = {
    extra_manifests_sha1 = sha1(join("", [for f in fileset(".", "./extra-manifests/**") : filesha1(f)]))
  }

@mysticaltech I'm still a beginner with terraform - would that make sense to you?

@manuschillerdev This is already done in a PR. We have a contributor working on this. But maybe you could try what he has done, if it's good we can move to merging it. #827
