Feature Requests for Better Radio Drama / Audiobook Experience

Hi, I’m not a native English speaker, so please forgive me if anything I say comes across as rude—it’s entirely unintentional.
I’m a big fan of audio dramas and radio dramas, and I absolutely love Namida. It’s such a beautiful and wonderful player—I’ve even recommended it to several communities.
If you’re open to suggestions, would it be possible to add the following features? They would greatly improve the experience for listeners like me. If you ever implement them, we would be incredibly grateful—it would genuinely make us more convenient using the player.

1. Single-Line Scrolling Lyrics/Subtitle Display
   Description:
Add a display mode where only the current line of text (lyrics or subtitles) is shown at a time, scrolling automatically in sync with playback. This is similar to the single‑line karaoke style found in Spotify(see example screenshot below).
   

Use Case:
I primarily use Namida to listen to radio dramas and audiobooks. When the full script is shown at once, it reveals future dialogue and spoils plot twists before I hear them. A single‑line scrolling view would allow me to follow the text without accidentally reading ahead, preserving the narrative suspense.

2. Desktop Floating Lyrics Window
   Description:
Implement a small, always‑on‑top window that shows the current line of text (from lyrics or subtitles) and can be moved anywhere on the screen. It should stay above other applications while audio is playing.
   Use Case:
When listening to radio dramas, I often need to multitask—browsing the web, taking notes, etc. Switching back and forth to the main player window disrupts immersion. A floating window would let me read the dialogue while working in other apps, ensuring I don’t miss any part of the story.

3. WebVTT Subtitle Import Support
   Description:
Add the ability to import and display WebVTT (.vtt) subtitle files directly, without requiring conversion to LRC format.
   Use Case:
Official sources for radio dramas and audiobooks often distribute subtitles in WebVTT format. Currently, I have to manually convert every file to LRC before using it with Namida—a tedious process, especially when new episodes are released frequently. Native WebVTT support would save time and reduce friction.

hi thanks for the great suggestions! i cant promise them any time soon but hopefully in future

i suggest not using namida for audiobooks/long podcasts etc since this was not in mind while making namida, im sure there are many other players that make audio books experience better

but that aside, i personally like the ideas, hopefully they are implemented in future ^^

Actually, I’ve tried almost every player out there for listening to audio dramas, and Namida is the only one that truly feels right for me. Not only does it have the most beautiful and well-designed interface I’ve ever used, but it also strikes the perfect balance between comfort and flexibility. No other player comes close.

One of the most important reasons I stick with Namida is that it handles both audio and video seamlessly—the playback interface and playlists are consistent, and switching between them is incredibly smooth. Since some official releases include animated videos along with the audio episodes, having solid video support is actually quite important for us listeners.

I even wrote a detailed guide on how to use Namida for audio dramas, and it’s been warmly received by the community—many people have told me how helpful it is.

I’m only mentioning these to show how much I appreciate Namida and how deeply it fits into my listening habits.

I fully understand that audio dramas are not the core focus of Namida's development, and I respect that completely. Please don’t feel pressured at all—just keep developing at your own pace, according to your own vision and priorities.

If these features ever become possible in the future, my friends in the community and I would be incredibly grateful. And even if they never make it in, I'll continue using and loving Namida just the way it is.
