<h4 class="news-header blue-md">Founding</h4>
<p class="no-margin">The Original Undergraduate Library opened in Fall 1949, as part of Room 101 of the Main Library. In 1960, a University resolution resulted in the decision to build a separate Undergraduate Library. On September 21, 1966 the groundbreaking of the current Undergraduate Library occurred, followed by its dedication three years later on November 15, 1969. </p>

<h4 class="news-header blue-md">The Underground Library</h4>
<p class="no-margin">An often-asked question regarding the Undergraduate Library is why it was built underground. The common answer given by most is that the architects simply did not want to cast shade on the neighboring Morrow Plots (see image on left). Another reason was that the Campus Master Plan of the day required an open mall behind the Auditorium to maintain symmetry.</p>

<h4 class="news-header blue-md">Evolution</h4>
<p class="no-margin">The collections and services of the Undergraduate Library have undergone many changes in the 40+ years of its existence. DVDs, video games, and electronic books, journals, and videos now complement the traditional print collection.
Research services are offered online (by email, chat, and mobile texting), and the instruction program continues to expand. A variety of campus partners have joined
forces with the Undergraduate Library over the years, including the Career Center, McKinley Health Center, and our latest community partners, the dog therapy professionals from
the CU Canine Connection.
