Is viser setup to support a C++ client?

That is, is the front-end sufficiently decoupled that it has its own schema, such that we could launch a websocket in C++, host the front-end, and we could support commands similar to MeshcatCpp?

Hi @soulslicer! It wouldn't be a small project but conceptually yes, you would "just" need the C++ interface to read/write the correct msgpack objects.

These are automatically generated using the Python types as the source of truth, using this script: https://github.com/nerfstudio-project/viser/blob/main/src/viser/infra/_typescript_interface_gen.py

For implementation in C++, I think a reasonable first step would be to write a similar transpiler that maps the Python types to C++ classes. And then there'd be details to figure out on the right way to translate the Python API to C++. Hard but doable, are you interested in trying? 🙂

If aesthetics/performance are not critical there's also the option of using Viser in an embedded Python interpreter...
