Hi, before I create a feature request, I thought id bring this up in discussions first.
Its pretty much the same thing as #3855.
I'd like to suggest the power feed data model (and associated functionality) is modified to do one of the following:
Allow power feeds to be connected to multiple power ports (injets) or
Modify power feeds to contain multiple power outlets or
Allow power feeds to be nested or linked as parent/children (plural) - I don't think this is the best way to model it but it would work.
The docs advise that:
A power feed represents a discrete power circuit originating from an upstream power panel
Only one port can be connected to a feed
Where multiple devices draw power from the same feed, a power distribution unit (PDU) must be modeled...
I think its point 2 and 3 that should be reviewed. While I'm not suggesting gets into the realm of facilities power management, I do think that a discrete power circuit that could have more than outlet. Some use cases I can think of off the top of my head are:
If a discreet circuit is being used in more than one room/location/rack it would allow you to see where else it goes to and if documented what else is sharing it, but if not documented at least you have an idea that "that circuit has more than just my stuff on it"
The suggestion in #3855 is a bit of a workaround which isn't great. Having them as distinct objects / relationships I think is better. especially for fault finding in 'less than ideal' situations.
Happy to raise a feature request but thought it should be discussed and perhaps teased out a little first.
