Hide menu elements

Hi there,

is it posstible to hide menu elements?
For exampe: We dont use the IPAM section.

Can we hide / disable it?

Hi!

Yes - the sidebar is permissions‑driven. If a user or group has no view permission for IPAM models, the entire IPAM section will disappear for them.

How to hide IPAM

• Remove (or don’t grant) view/add/change/delete permissions for the IPAM app to the users/groups who shouldn’t see it.
• If you use global Default permissions, configure them so that IPAM models are not granted view by default. Docs: https://netboxlabs.com/docs/netbox/configuration/security/#default_permissions

Notes

• Superusers will still see everything, regardless of permissions.
• Without view permissions, direct URLs to IPAM pages will be blocked as well.

This is correct and works fine.

Note that if you have logging enabled, depending on the removed permissions, you will get some noise about permission denied errors in the logs because the NetBox object views can refer to objects that might not be permitted. Those errors don't mean that the users have attempted to do anything bad, it is just how the NetBox views currently work. FR #15294 did not unfortunately get enough traction to remove those errors.

okay, sorry I have to write an update.
At the moment, all anonymus users can see ALL.
Now I would hide the IPAM section for anonymus users.

@sadden3194 in the Netbox/netbox/navigation/menu.py file, you can delete the IPAM_MENU line whats here at line 510, and then reload Netbox. Thst would hide it from the UI https://github.com/netbox-community/netbox/blob/main/netbox/netbox/navigation/menu.py#L510

this is not a solution. the IPAM_MENU should be visible for alle registered users, but not for anonymous users
