I have documented a very large data center in Netbox and the data center itself is a disaster area. We are going to be cleaning and organizing and rerunning A TON of cables.
We have hundreds of cables that leave a rack and run across the room to other racks. Part of this cleaning project is going to be replacing most of the cables that leave a rack with patch panels and reorganizing what equipment is in each rack.
The thing I am searching for is a way to look at all the connections in this data center, filtered by cables that are connected to ports vs interfaces. We've designated ports to be used for patch panels / pass through connections, and interfaces are cable end points connected to an actual device that outputs data. I'd like to build a list of cables that are connected device to device but not passing through any patch panels.
Ideally, on the Connections > Cables > Filters page, there would be some way to filter cable end points - whether a cable runs from a "port to a port", which would be a patch panel to patch panel cable, vs a cable that runs "interface to port" or "interface to interface"
If this is a thing I should already be able to do, I'd love a little help sorting it out because I've hunted everywhere, and the work around is a whole lot of spreadsheet exports and filtering, and while functional, that's not ideal.
