Steps to Reproduce

1. Select a device
2. Click on "Render Config"

Expected Behavior

we want to access to render config page.

Observed Behavior

We don't have permission with a user with all granted access in permissions menu

Sorry, I didn't provide the context.
We use Netbox since a long time, we just update v4.2.4 -> v4.5.0

Before, everything works well. But now, when we select a product (switchs), configured with a template, and then just click on "Render config"

We can access at this page with our superuser (adminstrator)

but we don't have permission when we use a user in a admin group with all objects type selected

As noted in the v4.5.0 release notes, rendering a device or virtual machine configuration now requires the render_config permission for the relevant object type:

Given that, this appears to be expected behavior rather than a bug, so I’ll go ahead and close this issue.

If you still see the same problem after assigning the new permission, please comment here and we can take another look.

P.S. I’d also recommend upgrading from v4.5.0 to a newer patch release when you have a chance.

I've created a new permission group with all access to objets type.
I've upgraded netbox V4.5.0 -> V4.5.5

I still have the same problem.

Thanks for the follow-up and for confirming that you tested again after upgrading.

I’ve converted this to a discussion for now, because I haven’t been able to reproduce this as a NetBox bug.

As of v4.5, rendering a device or virtual machine configuration requires the render_config permission. Because this is a custom action, it needs to be added explicitly under Additional actions; broad access to the object type alone may not be sufficient by itself.

Please double-check that your permission includes the appropriate additional action:

• DCIM > Device → render_config
• Virtualization > Virtual Machine → render_config
• Extras > Config Template → render (only if you are rendering a template directly)

If that is already configured and you still see the same result, please share a screenshot of the permission definition itself, including the selected object type(s), actions, Additional actions, and any constraints, and we can continue troubleshooting from there.
