Filter object-changes based on prechange_data

Hello,

A colleague asked : "is it possible to check in the changelog when the IP assigned to "servername" was deleted".
My answer was: "yes if you know the IP address".

But what if you don't and only know for example dns_name. The data is there (in prechange_data), but can we somehow filter based on this (not necessarily using the GUI, but maybe with the API)?
