use function from another python script in custom scripts

hi guys,
is it possible to use other function from another script in my custom scripts?
if yes. Could you please give me a hint how to do that.

When I try to do this:

sys.path.insert(0, '/usr/local/scripts')
from test import test

I get an error <class 'SyntaxError'>
