The "Recent" view in Files is overcrowded with files from all shares by everyone.

We also discussed this in the mobile app context where we don't have the "Recent" view yet, and having the current firehose of information would not be very useful there either. cc @tobiasKaminsky

Describe the solution you'd like
Instead of having edits by everyone, it should be focused on oneself, or what's really relevant:

• Files your recently opened
• File that you recently edited or created
• Files that were shared with you
• Files that you shared
• Files where you were mentioned

This needs an API so the mobile apps can also have a view for it.

Same for the web, as there is currently no source for this information. At the moment we just search for all files and sort by mtime.

From our brainstorming session: We don't want backlash from users that expect the current behaviour, so we need to make sure that there is a way in the UI to toggle to and from the current behaviour, as both serve a different but useful purposes.

It could/should be implemented as a filter of the current view -> Standard = current behaviour. And you can filter the view to show only your activity.

For example, "Recents" could have subitems, like the Shares section:

• Recent
  • Personal recent
  • Everyone’s recent
  • (Team) recent?

You can also just:

• open recent tab
• click on the "people filter"
• select yourself (it will always be the first entry)

Now you only see recently changed files you own.

Note that there is no information who changed a file recently, this would need integration of the files_versions app to get the creator of the latest versions (not available at the moment).
