Integration is good, but only to a small extent. It doesn't update the moon's age, lunar illumination, etc., on a 1-minute basis. Only the moon's distance from Earth is updated.

I too am experiencing this issue, only as of recently. I have to reload the integration for it to refresh the data.

same. I'm trying to use Moon Illumination Fraction and I noticed it was stuck at 2% while the moon has clearly progressed !!

I sent the graph to an astronomy-aware friend and asked if Moon Illumination Fraction means something else than what I naively expect or if this graph was bugged and he said "likely a bug".

confirmed that reloading plugin / integration / service refreshes data :(

I'm experiencing the same issue. Any way around this? The illumination works fine on the Lunar Phase Card, though.

I think the nature of the bug is that self.today is set at initialize, but never updated later? https://github.com/ngocjohn/lunar-phase/blob/main/custom_components/lunar_phase/moon.py#L59-L60

solution might be as simple as something like the following, but I don't have a good idea about how HomeAssistant plugins are built / executed or how to test my changes locally.

I noticed there's a pre-release version already published.... it includes a "reload stats at Midnight" PR too: #18

it appears to be working for me, altho I'm not sure why it's not Published / Promoted to GA release? perhaps the author was unhappy with their solution? I don't really have any opinions about their solution #18 or yours in #33 ; I have not spent enough time in HomeAssistant plugins to understand what the patterns and practices are.

@DanceMore, v0.2.3-beta in pre-release is from Dec 2024, more than a year ago.
My approach is to make sure that every pull of data is correct and updated. PR 18 only focuses on a refresh at midnight and might also be redundant with mine.

It looks like @ngocjohn is not contributing anymore to this project... I can see that he's still active on Git, but maybe giving priority to other projects.
@ngocjohn, if you read this, can you please let us know what to do with the pending PRs? Thanks

If you are ok with a hacky workaround you can create an automation that reloads the integration, which then updates the entities:
